The Institute for Energy Security (IES) has attributed Ghana's ongoing power crisis to persistent power generation deficits, which existed before the recent gas supply challenges.

Despite a projected peak load of 3,788 MW for 2024, average power generation at peak periods has been only 3,188.12 MW, resulting in a chronic generation deficit of around 600 MW.

They recommended strategies to address the generation shortfall and optimize resource use to mitigate the crisis.
