IGP leaked tape: Committee clears Dampare

An ad hoc committee has cleared IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare of wrongdoing in the leaked tape saga.

The committee found no evidence to support claims by senior officers that Dampare's strictness would harm the NPP's electoral prospects.

Instead, the committee deemed the officers' actions a danger to Ghana's democracy, as they conspired to remove Dampare for partisan reasons.

Two officers were referred to the Privileges Committee for lying under oath. The report concluded that the officers' actions could undermine free and fair elections and the sanctity of Ghana's democracy.
