IGP warns criminals ahead of yuletide

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr James Oppong-Boanuh has served notice that the service has taken measures to protect lives and property, warning that people who intend to commit crimes or ferment trouble during the yuletide will be dealt with according to the law.

Speaking on Tuesday at a programme dubbed “Father Christmas”, an operation to ensure law and order during the Christmas festivities, the IGP assured that service is resolved to deal ruthlessly with all criminal elements.

“Protection of lives and property is a fundamental responsibility of the police. And we will leave no stone unturned to make sure that this core responsibility is achieved in totality during the festive season. The Ghana Police Service is resolved to deal ruthlessly with all criminal elements and their unwanted activities,” he warned.

The IGP also warned that it is collaborating with other security agencies, and would deal decisively with anybody who would disturb the peace during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The festive season is noted to be accompanied with high crime rates and the Police Service in collaboration with others have also taken measures to contain the situation.
