Int'l Cocoa Day: COCOBOD joins #SayNoToGalamsey as illegal mining threatens 'foundations of cocoa farming'

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) marked International Cocoa Day 2024 by reaffirming its commitment to sustainable cocoa production and supporting farmers’ livelihoods.

In a statement, COCOBOD called on all stakeholders to promote ethical practices in the cocoa industry and urged Ghanaians to join the fight against illegal mining and cocoa smuggling, which threaten the sector’s sustainability.

COCOBOD also assured stakeholders that preparations are underway to comply with the new European Union Deforestation Regulation, set to take effect on January 1, 2025.
