Interior Minister, Prisons Director to appear before Parliament over Cantonments lands

The Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament has summoned the Minister of Interior, Henry Quartey, and the Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service to address concerns regarding the Prisons Service Barracks at Cantonments and land at Roman Ridge in Accra.

This follows upcoming demonstrations by the Coalition of La Associations and the GaDangme Coalition Against Land Injustice, protesting alleged unethical land seizures by political entities.

Deputy Ranking Member Peter Lanchene Toobu stressed the importance of obtaining first-hand information to address complaints about a private developer's plans to redevelop the Cantonments facilities for private business.
