The Interior Ministry has reviewed the curfew hours on the Bimbilla Township following the recent attacks resulting in the death of three people and the injury of eight others on Thursday, January 11. Before the change from 6:00 pm – 6:00 am, persons in the town were required to stay indoors from 10:00pm to 4:00am the next day.

The statement disclosed that the restriction was on the advice of Northern Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument.
Bimbilla for the past decade has been struggling with a chieftaincy conflict which has claimed several lives including women and children.
The area has for several months been under a 4:00 pm to 6:00am curfew due to the consistent gun attacks.
Meanwhile there is a total ban on all persons in the Bimbilla Township and surrounding areas from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon. According to the Ministry of Interior, persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
