International flights from Accra affected by global software disruption

International flights from Accra have experienced disruptions on July 19 due to a software outage affecting several airlines.

The Microsoft-based systems of airlines like United Airlines were impacted, causing flight delays. United Airlines informed customers in Ghana about the global third-party software outage, affecting computer systems worldwide.

They resumed some flights but warned of ongoing schedule disruptions and issued a waiver for easier travel plan changes.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) stated that the IT issues, also involving Crowdstrike, were beyond the airlines' control and expressed sympathy for affected travelers, urging patience as solutions are implemented.
