Is Deputy Majority Leader your birthright? - Kwadwo Mpiani asks Adwoa Safo

Former Chief of Staff under the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufuor administration, Kwadwo Mpiani, has questioned what special qualification of Adwoa Safo that makes her think that being the Deputy Majority Speaker is her sole preserve.

There are reports suggesting that the Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament had officially asked the government to make her the Deputy Majority leader else she will not return to Parliament to support the passing of the e-levy.

These reports were given energy by Assin Central Member of Parliament who has indicated that the Dome Kwabenya MP has failed in life with her demands of the government.

Speaking in an interview on Joy News, Kwadwo Mpiani indicated that Adwoa Safo has no right whatsoever to demand such of the government.

To him, getting positions in Parliament is not the right of any Member of Parliament so when the Majority and the party decides on who needs to occupy a position, no one has the right to say otherwise.

He questioned her special qualification that makes her think that she should be forced on the Majority in Parliament as their Deputy Leader.

“The Majority side I believe in consultation with the General Party has decided that somebody should be a leader, somebody should be a Deputy leader, no member of the house can say give me this position.

"On what basis are you asking that the position should be given to you? That’s the decision of the Majority in consultation with its party so if they’ve taken the decision why should they remove the person who is there and give this position to you?

"What special qualification do you have so that you think you must be made Deputy leader. I don’t think it’s true but I hope it’s not true,” he said on Joy News.
