It’s a refreshing change – Ken Ashigbey on government’s latest effort to curb galamsey

Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, Convener of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey, has praised the government’s recent actions against illegal mining, calling it a "refreshing change."

He commended President Akufo-Addo’s deployment of over 100 military personnel as part of "Operation Halt," which targets galamsey operations along the Birim River.

While acknowledging early progress, including the destruction of illegal mining equipment, Dr. Ashigbey urged Ghanaians to keep the pressure on the government by protesting with red bands.

He also called for regular updates to ensure transparency and further action against illegal mining across Ghana.
