John Boadu ‘tips’ Asiedu Nketia to be Mahama’s running mate

The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) John Boadu says he’ll support his colleague General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia to be picked as running mate to the NDC’s Flagbearer John Mahama for the 2020 election.

Mr Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito in an interview on Kasapa FM indicated that he’ll gladly accept a Running Mate position if he’s nominated as he believes he’s well qualified.

According to him, he’ll be very excited to partner the NDC Flagbearer ex-President John Mahama to wrestle power from the incumbent New Patriotic Party(NPP) during the upcoming 2020 general elections.

There have been reports that former President John Dramani Mahama is considering Johnson Asiedu Nketiah as his running mate for the eagerly anticipated contest.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia is thought to be in pole position for the enviable position due to his rich experience and prowess to mobilize the grassroots as the party desires to shore up its votes in the rural communities of the country ahead of the 2020 elections.

Commenting on the issue on Okay FM, John Boadu stated that it not be bad move making experienced Asiedu Nketia a running mate after his immense contribution to the NDC party over the years.

However, he added that making Asiedu Nketia a Running mate will not positively impact on the electoral fortunes of the NDC as the party will once again be hugely defeated in the upcoming 2020 election.

“Asiedu Nketia has been in the party for so long and has worked very hard being an MP, Deputy Minister and currently the General Secretary for a very long time. So making him a running mate will be an honour. Even if he had the opportunity he would have gone for the Flagbearer position and that would have been positive. I would have even supported the move because it will come to naught. A Mahama-Asiedu Nketia ticket will not be a good one. What will be fulfilling is that his toil has been recognized.

John Boadu added: “Working in the party is sometimes demoralizing because if you don’t have a strong heart someone on the periphery who gets an appointment in government turns to disrespect you. For Asiedu Nketia being able to hold on to this point shows he’s sacrificed a lot for the party. So if he’s honoured with a Flagbearer position it will be positive for our politics.”
