John Mahama promises fund for ageing artistes

John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate for the NDC, has pledged to establish an Ageing Artistes Fund to support elderly creatives if elected in the December 2024 election.

He outlined this commitment at a policy dialogue in Accra, emphasizing the importance of the creative arts industry in job creation.

Mahama also unveiled 22 strategies, including budgetary allocation, cultural initiatives like the Golden Age of Culture, renovating arts centers, streamlining copyright laws, and supporting film festivals.

Other plans include tax breaks, reviving cultural festivals, and developing tourist sites.

Additionally, he proposes building a new city to foster arts activities and annual stakeholder dialogues.
