Information coming in now from sources at the University of Education, Winneba is that embattled newly appointed Finance Officer, Francis Obeng has defied an interlocutory injunction filed at the Winneba High Court by the Acting Finance Officer restraining him from holding himself as Finance officer of the University.
In the said writ, the petitioner is praying the court to restrain the University, Registrar and the Vice Chancellor from allowing the fourth defendant from holding himself as Finance officer.
As part of the injunctions being sort, Mr. Bruno Chirani is also requesting of the court to restrain Francis Obeng from holding himself as Finance officer until a final determination is reached with the earlier suit filed against the four defendants.
However, in a shocking revelation Mr. Francis Obeng who seem not perturbed about the suit is said to have held meetings in the Finance Office and has introduced himself as the Head of Finance of the University.
The action of Francis Obeng according to legal brains could be prejudicial to the matter before the court. It is further being suggested that should the interlocutory injunction of the Petitioner be granted, Mr. Francis Obeng could be held for contempt of court which could land him behind bars.
The question that remains unanswered is weather the action taken by Francis Obeng was deliberately taken to disrespect the court or done ignorantly, but as they say, ignorance of the law is no excuse. And whatever it may be, the law remains in the bosom of the Judge.
