Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah, Chairman of the Economic Sub-Committee for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Manifesto, has defended Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that the management of Ghana’s economy during recent challenges was primarily the responsibility of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

In an interview on Channel One TV on November 11, Dr. Assibey-Yeboah emphasized that while Dr. Bawumia held a prominent position in government, his focus was on digital transformation and financial inclusion, not directly overseeing the economy.

He pointed out that Ofori-Atta and the Finance Ministry were the key players in economic decision-making.

Dr. Assibey-Yeboah expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, urging Ghanaians to support him in the upcoming elections to lead the country through economic recovery and growth.
