About 15 households in Salakope, Amutinu, and nearby communities in the Ketu South Municipality have taken refuge in churches after tidal waves devastated their homes.
The high tides, a recurring issue along Ghana’s Eastern coast, have submerged homes, farms, boats, and fishing equipment.
Assembly Member Sylvester Kumawu highlighted the urgent need for a sea defense to protect against future damage.
Despite government studies on coastal erosion starting two years ago, no action has been taken.
Kumawu is calling for immediate intervention to support affected families and preserve their livelihoods.
