Sugar cane farmers have given the government a one-week deadline to discuss purchasing their crops for the Komenda Sugar Factory.
Led by Chairman Samuel Mensah, they criticized the plan to import semi-refined sugar without consulting them.
They demand the Trade Minister explain this decision and clarify how the government will buy local sugar cane.
The announcement follows plans to lease the factory to Indian firm West African Agro Limited.
If ignored, the farmers threaten to campaign against the government, highlighting unmet promises to support local sugar cane production.
