As frantic efforts are being made to ascertain and curb the deaths at the Kumasi Academy Senior High School, pastors of the Ashanti Region branch of Ghana Baptists on Wednesday lead students in prayers and anointing service.
According to an online report by 3news.com, head pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church at Kyeyaase, a suburb of Kumasi, Rev Steven Paintsil opined that they had approval from the school authority pray and anoint the students against the ‘unknown’ illness and deaths.
Doctors of the Konfo Anokye Teaching Hospital say so far our students – three boys and a girl – have lost their lives to the illness. Also, 18 other students are on admission, while six have been treated and discharged.
The recent deaths were originally attributed to the outbreak of meningitis. However, tests conducted by health officials ruled out meningitis and pointed to a bacterial infection as the cause.
