An Accra Circuit Court has acquitted and discharged six out of the remaining 10 suspects standing trial for the deadly jail break at the Kwabenya District Police headquarters.
Justice Aboagye Tandoh freed the six after enough evidence was not adduced by prosecution during trial.
The six are George Yeboah, Edward Lartey and Geroge Sabah.
The others are Elvis Owusu, George Asante and Theophilus Banda.
Four have, however, been asked to open their defence after a prima facie case was established by prosecution against them.
They are Prince Osei, Prince Kofi Acheampomg, Kofi Seshie and Nancy Dentaa, the only female suspect.
They will start making their defence on Wednesday, May 23.
Already, four persons have been convicted.
The cell break on Sunday, January 21 witnessed the shooting to death of Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi, who was buried on Saturday, March 3. His family was promised GH¢185,000.
Seven inmates escaped during the break but two were arrested immediately by the Ghana Police Service. Fourteen persons had been standing trial at the circuit court.
