The entourage led by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu called on the minister at his office yesterday, March 6.

Receiving the petition, the Interior Minister, Ambrose Derry stated that his outfit will look into the concerns of the association and deal with it swiftly.

According to him, the approach adopted by the Cattle Owners Association will ensure the needed dialogue through which solutions would be made.

“The ministry through this petition will regulate the influx of foreigners so that they can be documented and given the needed protection. This will ensure us living in harmony with the foreigners” he said.

The minister made known to the members of the Association that government is concerned about criminals who possess rifles and firearms without any authorization.

He said the President has not ordered any shoot to kill policy in the Eastern Region and assured them that their concerns will be looked into.

The Interior Minister promised that government will ensure that calm is restored at the place so that they can go about their duties safely.

Ambrose Derry stated further that “No ethnic group will be discriminated against. All ethnic groups are welcome provided they would operate within the law.”

It is the President vision he said that there is free movement of persons, goods and services within the West African sub-region, therefore, he has ordered a 24-hour opening of the borders.

The minister later appointed Baba Bawumia, an official from the interior ministry as a mediator between the ministry and the Cattle owners association.
