Away from floods and the Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo caused a stir with his comment about government’s discontinuation of prosecution of 'galamsey queen' Aisha Huang. Addressing a townhall meeting in the United States recently, the Senior Minister said: “Putting that lady [Aisha] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your economic problems”
After several criticisms, the Office of the Senior Minister sought to clarify the comment.
Also to be discussed on the show is the roar over the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) indebtedness. The opposition National Democratic Congress is accusing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of collapsing the scheme.
The NDC says the NHIS is in a deplorable state and gasping for liquidity breath and that currently, it owed service providers in all the 16 regions of Ghana claims covering a period of almost 12 months and that had landed most healthcare facilities in distress.
Still on politics, the Accra High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Anthony Kwaku Boahen, Chairman and Deputy Communication Director of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) respectively.
Ampofo and Boahen were each granted bail in the sum of Gh¢100,000 with one surety after they pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to cause harm and assault on a public officer.
