Labour unions can paralyse the whole country – Prof Agyeman-Duah warns government

Former UN Senior Governance Advisor, Prof. Baffour Agyemang-Duah, has expressed surprise at the government's dismissal of organized labour's concerns, particularly regarding the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) fund.

He emphasized the significant impact of tampering with SSNIT, which safeguards workers' futures. Prof. Agyemang-Duah criticized SSNIT's plan to sell 60% of its stake in four hotels, suggesting a conflict of interest.

Organized labour suspended its strike on July 15 but gave SSNIT one month to address pension issues. He highlighted the historical power of labour movements and urged the government to heed their warnings.
