Former UN Senior Governance Advisor Prof. Baffour Agyemang-Duah has criticized the government's dismissal of organised labour's concerns over SSNIT's plan to sell 60% shares in four hotels, warning of the potential for significant backlash.
He emphasized the importance of the SSNIT fund for workers' futures and noted the historical power of organised labour to paralyse the country.
The strike by organised labour, which protested the sale to a firm owned by the Food and Agriculture Minister, has been suspended, with a one-month deadline for SSNIT to address their concerns.
Prof. Agyemang-Duah called for lessons to be learned from this situation.
