Latif Abubakar to thrill with best of plays

Playwright Latif Abubakar's Globe Productions Limited is set to thrill the public with their best of plays starting from 29th December 2021 to 8th January 2022

Having been on top and staged jaw-dropping plays in the last decade, the playwright said, the growing interest of people and the positive impact of Globe Productions’ stage plays on them has been a motivation to continue churning out hilarious and educative plays.

The award-winning playwright who recently staged the first-ever open-air theatrical play at the Labadi Beach hotel said the shows which will come off at 4 pm and 8 pm on each of the days at the GNAT Hall in Accra are set to thrill the audience like never before.

Starting with ‘Judas and Delilah’ on December 29 and 30, 2021, the play will move on to ‘Something must kill a man’ which will be staged on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd January 2022, and end with ‘Thank God for idiots’ on 7th and 8th January 2022.

Theatre on the cruise

'Thank God for idiots' would however be staged on the Dodi Princess amidst a cruise on the Volta lake at Akosombo.

Synopsis

'Judas and Delilah' tells a story of a nurse who is obsessed with a doctor and a watchman who is obsessed with the nurse, while something must kill a man tells the story of Mr. Attah who after handing over his company to his son, came back to set him up with a charming damsel.

'Thank God for Idiots' is about a young couple whose marriage is on the verge of collapse. In the midst of a very heated argument one midnight, they have a visitor.

Tickets for the play are on sale at GH¢80.00 single and GH¢150.00 double at the Airport and Community 11 Shell, Baatsona Total, Joy FM, Koala, and also via the shortcode *447*1092# on all networks, while theatre on the cruise is going for GH¢450.00 single and GH¢800.00 double.

Globe Productions

As a theatre company focused on theatre for development, Globe Productions has to its credit 15 plays that have been performed 67 times across the country to an audience base of about 40,000 making it the fastest-growing theatre company in Ghana with the widest coverage.

Its CEO/Playwright, Mr. Abubakar, gained some international recognition via an interview on BBC World Service on the topic: “Resurgence of Theatre in Africa”.

Some written and produced works by Mr. Abubakar include “I can't think far”; a non-violence campaign towards the 2016 election which was sponsored by Star-Ghana, UK Aid, DANIDA, and the European Union.

Also, “Saint and Sinners” focused on galamsey and was sponsored by WaterAid Ghana and the Media Coalition Against Galamsey.

Another work that made a social impact was “Men don die,” a road safety campaign sponsored by the National Road Safety Commission.
