A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Alidu seidu has fired a shot at Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) claiming the latter is not on top of issues within his party.
“Sammy Gyamfi is not on top of issues and that makes him a disaster”, the former broadcaster observed during a panel discussion on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM morning show monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
According to the Hon. Alidu Seidu, Sammy Gyamfi comments on the leaked tape where NDC’s National chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo heard inciting party communicators against heads of certain public institutions clearly shows he is not on top of issues even within his own party as the communications officer.
“While in one breadth he says Ofosu Ampofo voice is doctored, elsewhere, he says the voice is not Ofosu Ampofo’s”, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asokore Mampong told host, Aduanaba Kofi Asante.
Meanwhile, by the NDC’s activist, Dela Coffie asked “So, how can the tape be fake and at the same time be doctored? Are we listening to ourselves at all?”
He added, “And what were the conflicting responses from the National Communication officer and his deputy all about?”
He concluded “Who is really in charge of the NDC’s communications strategy and co-ordination? Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does. Utterly lamentable ….”
The embattled National Chairman, has for the first time made a public statement about the leaked tape assuring Ghanaians he is a law-abiding person and will not do some of the things attributed to him.
He also refuted claims he has run out of the country following an invitation extended to him by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over the leaked tape.
“I want to assure you that the NDC Chairman has not run away from anybody. When we finish thanking God on Sunday, on Monday, our lawyers have informed the CID that the National Chairman of the NDC will come to the CID headquarters to answer any questions that they want. By eight O’clock, we are there and, so, I want to assure them that the peaceful Chairman, the peaceful party will respond to their call even though they first invited us through WhatsApp”, he told party supporters at the victory walk on Saturday.
