It is emerging from sources close to government that former Upper East regional Minister and now Minister of State in Charge of special duties, Rockson Ayine Bukari could be asked to step aside following an alleged leaked conversation between him and the Upper East Regional correspondent for EIB Network’s Starr FM, Edward Adeti, MyNewsGh.com has gathered.
Mr. Bukari has come under media frenzy in the past days after the said telephone conversation on an attempt to bribe the reporter to ‘kill’ a story about a judge went viral on social media and main stream media.
MyNewsGh.com is picking snippets of information from sources close to government that the Minister may have to step aside as National Security has been tasked by the Presidency to look into the matter bothering on attempted bribery and corruption.
When contacted by MyNewsGh.com for confirmation, Mr. Rockson Ayine Bukari expressed shock at the information saying “I’m not aware of it” to wit he has not been asked to step aside as claimed by the grapevine sources.
Edward Adeti, confirmed recording the telephone conversation but denied leaking it to the public. According to him, a copy of the tape was given to the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Ghana Police Service and some Lawyers who double as counsels for Cassius Mining Limited, an Australian Mining Company that is operating in the Talensi District of the Upper East region and in court with Shaanxi Mining Company, a Chinese company also operating in the area.
He suspects someone from within the category of persons stated above may have leaked the tape to the media for reasons yet to be uncovered.
