On July 19, Trade and Industry Minister Kobina Tahir Hammond dismissed representatives of the Cement Manufacturers Association from a meeting with the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry (GCCI) in Accra.
The Minister insisted that the meeting was solely for the Chamber and had already discussed issues with the manufacturers previously.
Despite attempts by GCCI representatives to justify the manufacturers’ presence, Hammond remained firm, leading to their exit.
This incident follows the manufacturers’ earlier refusal to meet with the Minister on July 1, due to his insistence on media presence at that meeting.
