Francis Cyril Attu Asiedu, former Kade District Extension Officer at Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), testified in court that Lithovit fertilizer, produced by Agricult Company Limited, was neither substandard nor a fraud.
He stated that it significantly boosted cocoa yields and that none of the 9,260 farmers in the Kade District reported any issues after using it.
Farmers even requested more.
Asiedu disagreed with claims of the fertilizer being ineffective and noted no complaints were received at the regional level.
However, he mentioned that in 2017, following a change in government, Cocobod instructed them to stop using Lithovit, though he was unsure of the exact reason.
