Lydia Alhassan busing aliens to Ayawaso West Wuogon to register – NDC alleges

The Ayawaso West Wuogon arm of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the incumbent MP Lydia Seyram Alhassan of busing some residents from different constituencies to partake in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

“Our Member of Parliament, Lydia Alhassan has gone to other constituency across including Ayawaso North, Ayawaso East, Amasaman, Kasoa and other places to bring people who don’t reside in our community here to come and register. At the end of the d-day she is expecting those people to come and vote for her. This doesn’t show respect to the people in this community.”

“We are calling on the community to reject to the people they are bringing. Today for instance two sprinter buses from Amasaman and the mortuary road bringing people into our community to register. We intercepted them and we end dispersing the people.” He added.

He added that they have reported the incidence to the Ghana Police and the Municipal elections different awaiting their actions against the MP.

“This morning, we had the hint that there were two buses coming from Nsawam, being NPP people they are bringing to come and register. So, we went and we intercepted the car”, he said, adding: “I’ll send you the Sprinter’s number and the mode of their operation [and] how they get them to the polling station”.

“What we are saying is that it is wrong. We’re in an elite community. Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency is the most elite community in Ghana. So, allow the people, the grownups there to determine who should be their MP”, the NDC Constituency Chairman said.
