MTN, the biggest telecommunications giant in Ghana, has showered gifts on twenty three (23) mothers who gave birth to twenty five (25) kids on Christmas Day, December 25 at the Apinto Government Hospital in Tarkwa in the Western Region.
In all, 25 mothers drawn from two general hospitals in Tarkwa, the Old Government Hospital and the Apinto government hospital received surprise Xmas presents and hampers full of baby products.
The gifts form part of MTN's Corporate Social Responsibility (MTN Ghana Foundation) and is done across the entire nation from the Northern region, Kumasi, Accra, etc on Christmas seasons.
The Acting Regional senior manager for MTN South West, Mohammad Tiyuniba Yakubu said Christmas is a time of giving and building strong relationships with people especially the newly born babies.
It was for this reason that his outfit decided to undertake the exercise at the two major hospitals in Tarkwa. He revealed MTN will also donate blood for hospitals on February 14 this year.
Senior Staff Midwife of the Apinto Hospital, Bebete Melody, who received the items on behalf of the newly born babies thanked MTN and called on MTN to visit the facility again to assist them with their pressing needs in the near future.
Speaking to some of the mothers, they expressed joy and gratitude to MTN for their worthy donations.
Jean Owusu, one of the mothers present at the ward said she was extremely delighted with the gifts from MTN to her baby.
According to her, she is a subscriber of the MTN network and this donation goes to show that MTN does not just focus on making profit but also invest in the lives of people.
