Award-winning Journalist with the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) Mabel Aku Baneseh has resigned from the state-owned media establishment.
The journalist announced this on her Facebook page on Thursday, October 17, 2019 after rendering her meritorious services to the growth of the brand for 18 years.
No reason has been assigned for her resignation but she wrote said “tendered in my resignation letter on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, after 18 years of dedicated service to the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL); 15 years of which has been in permanent employment. I did my national service at the GCGL and have gone nowhere ever since. I gave a month’s notice so my last day at GCGL as an official employee will be November 15, 2019.
My plans are many but in the interim, I will concentrate on my family, my personal wellbeing, private consultancy services, my second book and charity work.
My decision to resign comes after six years of planning. I simply do not want to turn 60 at GCGL and I hope my decision will be respected by some private media houses, who take delight in feeding on what happens at the GCGL. In fact, I had no option but to issue this statement after an editor of a private media outlet sent me a message at exactly 12:08 am asking “you have resigned from Daily Graphic?” I would have broken this news on November 16, 2019 but the message meant I have to act before stories are made up.
I would please entreat my colleague journalists to respect my decision and desist from making up theories that do not exist. I will continue to have a good relationship with the GCGL. It will always be my first love in employment.
Thank you.
