Former President Mahama and former minister of Finance, Seth Terkper, have been accused by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party of being the coaches who gave the embattled CEO of Menzgold the lifeline to rollout his business operations which many have described as a scam.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boadiako, in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, noted that former President Mahama cannot absolve himself from the scheme which has left some investors wailing because their cash has been locked up due to the troubles Menzgold is suffering.

According to him, former President Mahama and his appointee, Mr. Seth Terkper, were fully aware of the operations of Nana Appiah Mensah and deliberately led him on to dupe the masses.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, explained that the ripple effect of the “Menzgold scam which former President Mahama and Seth Terkper refused to cease their operation but rather threw their political support behind them, resulted in the consolidation of some local banks”.

He therefore called on the Ghana Police service to invite “the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Nashiru Issahaku and Seth Terkper for questioning. I believe Dr. Issahaku and Seth Terkper would be sincere and provide all the details surrounding the operations of Menzgold. As for former President Mahama, he wouldn’t speak the truth on any day. I will plead with the police to deal with these men as soon as possible”.

In related developments, the Office of former President John Mahama has denied claims by some officials of the governing party that the NDC administration issued a diplomatic passport to the embattled Menzgold boss Nana Appiah Mensah.

According to Joyce Bawa Mogtari, spokesperson for Mr. Mahama, the former President has nothing to do with the Menzgold boss or his business.

“There appears a desperate attempt, unsuccessful so far, by the NPP to drag former President John Mahama and other executives of the NDC into the unfolding MenzGold saga.

The CEO of Menzgold Ghana limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, has been charged with fraud over a business transaction worth $23million (GH¢114,587,150) with a Dubai company.

NAM1 as he is affectionately called, according to reports, has been held at the Al Barsha police station since his arrest in December 2018.
