Mahama’s boot-for-boot comment unnecessary – Ghanaians demand apology

Some section of Ghanaians have described as unnecessary comments made by former President John Dramani Mahama following violence at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

It is just that we are mindful of this country’s democracy and that is why we must be the first to respect it. That is why we are acting as a party that is docile and respecting the rule of law. But if we believe that the government cannot protect our people and we believe that the government is using its vigilante groups and illegal forces to intimidate and harass and injure our people, then we may have to advise ourselves”, Mahama said.

Reacting to this, some people who spoke to Ghanaweb said Mahama’s boot for boot comment is uncalled for and are therefore demanding an apology from the former president for his unsavoury remarks.

Condemning the act, they said Mahama as a respected leader should have never made those comments.

Although they believe he spoke out of anger, they insisted Mahama and other political leaders of this country be mindful of the utterances they make as that can trigger war since they have large followers.
