Former Attorney General Martin Amidu has condemned the Chief Justice's decision to close courts in Bawku and Bolgatanga, calling it “unprecedented” and harmful to citizens' rights.

He argued that Bolgatanga has historically been safe from Bawku's violence and warned that shutting down courts weeks before the national elections restricts access to justice.

Amidu also questioned the lack of input from local legal bodies, stating that the Upper East Regional Bar Association had not requested the closures. He urged for parliamentary oversight of the decision to ensure citizens' rights are protected.
