Merging VRA, BPA amounts to state capture – Ahmed Ibrahim claims

First Deputy Minority Whip, Ibrahim Ahmed, has strongly opposed the proposed merger of the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Bui Power Authority (BPA), labeling it as "state capture."

Speaking on Joy FM, the Banda MP argued that the merger, which aims to create a single Ghana Hydro Authority, would harm the effectiveness of BPA by allowing one entity to dominate.

He also criticized Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP's running mate, for lobbying MPs to support the merger, questioning his involvement in energy matters since he is no longer the Energy Minister.
