Military personnel in Bawku reopened the Municipal Assembly offices on November 5 after they were forcibly closed by unidentified individuals due to ongoing chieftaincy clashes.

The offices had been locked on November 4 by a group demanding the arrest of Alhaji Seidu Abagre, a rival chief whose return to Bawku on October 26 reignited tensions.

The violence, which has led to deaths and injuries, has disrupted essential services, with schools closed and utilities suspended.

Authorities have imposed a curfew to maintain order amid escalating unrest.
