The Minister of Health Hon Kweku Agyemang Manu will on Friday 8th December, 2017 brief Parliament on the death of a total of 11 students of the Kumasi Academy Senior High School in the Asawase constituency in the Ashanti region following suspected outbreak of Meningitis in the school.
The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Joseph Osei Owusu who presided over proceedings in Parliament today gave the ruling for the Health Minister to brief the House on the issue on Friday when the Minority Whip and MP for Asawase Hon Mubarak Muntaka drew Parliament’s attention on the death of the students.
According to Hon Muntaka since March 2017 some students of the Kumasi Academy SHS have been suffering from suspected Meningitis resulting in the death of the 11 students thereby creating fear and panic in the school.
Hon Mubarak Muntaka later spoke to Peace FM in an interview on the issue.
Commenting on the issue in Parliament, Hon Kweku Agyemang Manu said a technical team from the Ministry of Health has been dispatched to the school to investigate the cause of death of the 11 students and the actual sickness affecting some of the students.
