Miss Commonwealth Ghana pays courtesy call on Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture

Miss Portia Agyeman Ahenkan, 1st Runner-Up for the Miss Commonwealth pageant 2019 paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Lawyer Barabara Oteng-Gyasi and Deputy Minister, Hon. Dr. Ziblim Barri Iddi .The Miss Commonwealth Ghana is a pageant that seeks to showcase the rich culture of Ghana and to promote peace among African Nations and the entire world. The pageant is thus Affiliated to Miss Commonwealth UK which seeks to promote the gap between beauty and culture.

As part of her beauty with a purpose campaign, she's educating communities on the need to improve sanitation in their communities, creating awareness on breast cancer and encouraging teenage girls to go back to school. The Honorable Minister congratulated her and urged her to liase with the National Youth Tourism Ambassador, Mr.Joseph Nii Armah Amartey to collaborate in educating the youth on domestic tourism. She will be representing Ghana for the Miss Multi National International in India come December, 2019.

Agyemang Ahenkan Portia is 21 years old and hails from Damongo in the Savanna region. She's a product of St Monica Girls Senior High School and currently studying BSC community and Health at the College of Health at Yamfo. She entered pageantry two years ago to help give back to society and impact in the lives of others. Having won two pageants so far, she is now the first runner-up for the just ended Miss Commonwealth Ghana 2019. She is the daughter of Diana Achulo and Nana Fofie Agyemang with two sisters. Banku and pepper is her favorite delicacy. She loves the colours pink and black and enjoys dancing too.

Miss Commonwealth Ghana is affiliated to Miss Commonwealth UK which seeks to promote the gap between beauty and culture. Miss Princess Duncan won the Miss Commonwealth international in UK which has helped her gain the license to organize and host in Ghana. The vision of Miss Commonwealth Ghana is to see a peaceful nation and world free from ethnic and political conflict, political and social injustices among women, religious intolerance, terrorism among children and women, poverty, greed, corruption, immorality and disease. Also seeks to promote girl child education, train children to value our culture, help children identify their God given aptitude, thereby showcasing the Ghanaian and African culture to the world.

The Mission of Miss Commonwealth Ghana is to form peace groups in all nations in the world and to link them up into an International Movement for Peace (IMFP). It also works closely with political, religious, health institutions and ethnic leaders to adopt and reconciliation among the people of this world and help address pertinent issues confronting peace. The pageant therefore aims at showcasing our rich African culture to promote peace among African Nations and the entire world.

The Objectives of the Miss Commonwealth Ghana is to form Peace movement in the nations of the world to help deal with the pertinent issues confronting peace and reconciliation as well as develop programmes that will help address the social injustices among children and women.

All these objectives are geared towards the implementation of the overall vision of the organization that is, helping humanity attain peace which is the joy of God and backbone of Miss Commonwealth Ghana.

As a renowned pageantry, the Miss Commonwealth Ghana believes that all men were equally created by God but differently classified in the way of living their lives, thus making discrimination among women and children unnecessary. Miss Commonwealth Ghana firmly believes that people of this world must be involved in a new vision and should be given a new sense of direction in order to produce a positive change in attitude and perception towards women and children empowerment.

The Winner for the 2019 Miss Commonwealth Ghana is Miss Gloria Obeng Nyarko and she will be embarking on various projects such as equipping women with disabilities with vocational skills, Organizing a school tour to educate and create awareness on disabilities, sow new school uniforms for two Rehabilitation schools, General donations to Rehabilitation centres and also Organize food festival to raise funds to support the cause.

The First Runner-up, Miss Portia Ahenkan is also poised to undertake projects such as educating teenage mothers (formal and informal), Improving poor sanitation in communities and also creating awareness on breast cancer. Miss Sheidelle Annor, Miss Commonwealth Ghana, the Second Runner-up will also be working on climate change in Ghana through disposal and usage of plastics.

The Commonwealth Ghana Pageant seeks to involve young ladies to help promote and project African culture and heritage to the world through beauty and intelligence.
