My business partner and I were locked up in BNI cells in 2013 – Tobbin recounts FDA ordeal

Elder Dr. Samuel Amo Tobbin, Chairman of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, shared his harrowing experience with the FDA in 2013, led by Dr. Stephen Opuni, who seized and destroyed his products over counterfeit allegations.

Despite only a small portion being counterfeit, all products were confiscated, leading to financial and reputational damage.

Dr. Tobbin and his partner were dramatically arrested, coerced into signing false admissions, and detained repeatedly.

After a decade-long legal battle, Tobbinco was exonerated by the High Court in 2024, clearing Dr. Tobbin’s name and affirming the abuse of FDA's authority under Dr. Opuni.
