The so-called petitioners said to be staff of the Electoral Commission (EC) demanding removal of Madam Charlotte Osei from office as chairperson of Commission are not ghosts but rather human beings contrary to claims by the defendant’s lawyers.
“My clients are not ghosts. …they are human beings with identities who are staff of the Commission and will show up in court in their full identities by court order”, legal practitioner for the plaintiff’s, Maxwell Opoku Agyeman has said.
“I wish not to respond to those claims by the defendant’s lawyers in the media because of my clients and the office I sent my clients’ petition to. …I have to give respect to that office”, he explained on Kumasi-based Otec FM.
Madam Osei has been accused of single-handedly renegotiated a contract without the Commission’s laid down processes to the tune of $21,999,592 has threatened to sue the counsel for the so-called petitioners for defamation if he does not reveal details of his clients.
But speaking to the threats from the embattled EC Chair’s lawyers on Kumasi-based Otec FM, Lawyer Maxwell Opoku Agyamang insisted the petitioners are staff of EC but declined to name them.
“I do not represent ghosts. …my clients are staff of EC and if court orders for their identity why not” failing to give exact number of the petitioners.
