The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) workers, under the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), have begun an indefinite strike as of Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

This follows the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission's (FWSC) failure to reconvene negotiations after a seven-day ultimatum.

The workers are demanding increases in five existing allowances and the introduction of two new ones.

Despite agreeing on a professional development allowance, dissatisfaction led to the strike.

The strike affects NCCE operations in the Volta and Oti regions, with further directives awaited.
