The Prampram Divisional Police commander has downplayed the number of security personnel deployed to the constituency for the NDC’s ongoing parliamentary primaries.
According to ACP Dodzie Hlordzi, the high number of security personnel present at the St. Joseph’s Anglican Primary School polling centre is nothing unusual.
“The number is not high it’s the normal deployment that we have been doing, maybe because the

Speaking to the media at the polling centre, ACP Hlordzi noted that the Ghana Police Service was able to deploy over 100 personnel to Ningo-Prampram because the service had more officers to deploy due to the nature of the election.
“If it were to be a general election then we’ll cut down the numbers here because we need to share the security men among the other stations but this is just for one party and so we have for personnel to deploy,” he noted.
Aside from the over 100 police officers, there is also an undisclosed number of Military personnel at the polling station with other officers spread around the constituency.
This, according to ACP Hlordzi, is to ensure that the constituency is totally peaceful throughout the election process.
He denied media assertion that the huge number of security personnel will intimidate some voters.
District Chief Executive of Ningo-Prampram, Jonathan Teye Doku who also spoke to the media at the polling station noted that the District Security Council requested for more security personnel to be deployed to the constituency after receiving information that some persons were planning to disrupt the election.
The election process in the constituency has so far been peaceful and is expected to remain so, till the end of polls.
