NDC Primaries: Armah Buah recounts achievements

Former Minister for Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah last Friday took his Constituents through his political journey, recounting his eleven years of selfless leadership in government and in Parliament.

According to the NDC stalwart, he had to commit himself, his resources, time and energy to serve the people of Ellembelle following his decision to contest the seat in 2008.

Addressing enthusiastic party supporters after submitting his nomination forms to contest the seat for fourth term last Friday, the lawmaker said his administration brought significant development projects to Ellembelle that hitherto were lacking in the area.

"Four thematic areas hitherto struggling to catch the eyes of public office holders in Ellembelle had to be tackled. They were the deplorable roads infrastructure, appalling health system, ineffective education system, lack of access to power and water"

He explained that upon assumption of duty (office) the Constituency enjoyed tremendous support from the Mills-Mahama administrations from 2009-2016 when indeed the NDC government realized Ellembelle needed serious social intervention projects to stem the tide of poverty, hunger and diseases that had engulfed the area without the right leadership to address them.

"Consequently, a number of communities hitherto struggling to gain access to electricity, potable water, all received attention, the list is so lengthy", he noted.

In addition, he said there were significant number of health projects made available for the local communities where they needed them most. "Clinics, CHPS compounds (2 in 2009, to 32 in 2018), first ambulance services, annual health screening exercise, among others, gained prominence under my tenure", he said.



Furthermore, he disclosed that Ellembelle now boasts of the first and only Elderly Care Center in Western Region which is attending to the aged in the Constituency and beyond.

"This milestone social contribution made has since changed the face of the health sector in Ellembelle and provided hope for many who needed it most", he stated.

Aside that, he recalled that his administration connected Aiyinasi North (deprived and hard to reach communities) to Aiyinasi South, the easy to reach communities through roads infrastructure projects.

"These roads even though not complete have made transportation of goods and services in the constituency very easy for traders, farmers, and government workers unlike in the past", he emphasized.

In line with his vision, he said he has decided to contest the seat for fourth term following extensive consultations made with deeper reflections on the work he has done, must do, and what the Constituents expect from him as a leader.

He said he is running again because the NDC will have to come back and complete projects started, to offer farmers value for their sweat, reverse the years of decay under NPP, offer the youth hope for brighter future, and to initiate a new Teacher Training College project for Nzema land.
