Dr Obed Asamoah, former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has advised the party to put in place a structure that will enable them to generate the required financial resources.
This, he said would enable them to work hard to wrestle power from President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
He was speaking at the national conference of cadres of the party in the Southern sector of the country at Koforidua.
The theme of the conference was “Re-tracing the spirit of probity and accountability, the role of the cadres” and was attended by cadres of the party from Greater Accra, Eastern, Central and Volta Regions.
Dr Asamoah told the cadres that in advocating probity and accountability, they should be careful not to glorify poverty, explaining that probity and accountability meant desisting from using public funds for their personal gains.
Dr Donald Agumenu, who spoke on behalf of former President Jerry Rawlings called for probity and accountability in the cooperate governance of the country and urged the participants to share with others whatever they had learnt at the conference.
Ms Joyce Bawa who represented former President John Dramani Mahama urged the party to provide the country with a truly inclusive, decent and a government that would ensure prosperity for all and not for only a section of the society.
Earlier in a welcoming address, Mr Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, a leading member of the party called on their leadership to actively promote the payment and collection of dues so that the party would be owned by majority of members.
He said the insecurity of residents and the economic mismanagement going on demanded the organisation of all progressive forces in the country to get rid of the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
