NDC calls for Chief Justice’s resignation over ‘self-serving’ judicial appointments

Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the NDC, criticized Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo's selection of Supreme Court judges as "self-seeking."

He accused her of procedural flaws and having a personal agenda. Gyamfi argued that the Chief Justice's proposal to President Akufo-Addo to appoint specific judges reflects a conflict of interest.

He called for her resignation, stating her actions undermine the judiciary's impartiality. The NDC accused the Chief Justice and President of shielding government officials from future accountability.

Meanwhile, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin defended the proposal, stating it is within legal boundaries and aims to improve court efficiency.
