NDC condemns manhandling and remand of Democracy Hub protesters

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the remand of 39 protesters from the Democracy Hub, who were charged with unlawful assembly.

Following their September 24 remand by the Accra Circuit Court, the NDC described the government's actions as an abuse of power and criticized the police for their treatment of civilians protesting illegal mining's environmental impact.

They expressed concerns over the detainees' lack of access to food, water, and legal representation, asserting that the right to protest is fundamental.

The NDC also urged President Akufo-Addo to honor his promise to address illegal mining and protect peaceful demonstrators.
