Education minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo has alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) distributed cars to young ladies to campaign for them so that they can win the 2012 general elections.
He alleged that an amount of 4.3 billion cedis was squandered outside the budget from July to December 2012, on the elections.

Read full article.where and when Napo made his claims, he added that the 4.3 billion cedis outside budgetary spending was not approved by Parliament.
He added that when the relevant persons were invited to parliament to account for the budget malfeasance six months after the death of Professor Evans Atta Mills, they did not indicate anything via infrastructural projects among the items the 4.3 billion cedis was spent on.
“The fact is incontestable that they broke the bank…the fact was that that money was anything outside budget because we’ve done the mid-year review and everything but we still came back with a deficit that showed that we had spent an extra amount of money. The one thing we had done at that time was election 2012. But if you do recall, that was the same election young ladies were given cars…NDC gave them the cars,” the minister stated.
The Minister asserted that the NDC administration led by former President John Dramani Mahama could not recover from that debt, the reason the country was swamped in power outages, popularly known as ‘dumsor’.
Also, this was the reason for Ghana running back to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to seek shield in 2013 because the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at the time run down to 3.5, explained Napo.
This mismanagement, he explained was the consequence of the actions taken by the NDC to win the 2012 general elections.
