A former Presidential Staffer and a failed opposition NDC Parliamentary Aspirant for the Ablekuma Central constituency in the just ended primaries, Alhaji Halidu Haruna says his defeat is an endorsement of lies by party delegates.
According to him, so much lies were said about him in a bid for him to lose the election, adding that sadly the delegates bought in such absolute falsehood.
Alhaji Haruna Halidu who’s not new to NDC Parliamentary primary at Ablekuma was beaten in Saturday’s polls by Abdul Latif Dan who won by securing 888 votes as against the former’s 654 votes.
Speaking on Asempa FM Monday, Alhaji Haruna Halidu said all sorts of lies were said about him by his opponents including the claim that he has a strained relationship with Flagbearer John Mahama and that when he is elected Mr. Mahama can’t work with him.
He added that his opponents further alleged that he was saved from going to prison, a claim he said was outright falsehood as he’s never had a case reported against him at a police station.
Alhaji Haruna Halidu said he’ll continue to speak the truth always and remains dedicated to the course of the NDC party.
“I’ve been raised up to speak the truth always but the truth I speak always has been interpreted to mean that I’m arrogant but that is all part of our dirty politics. By my rejection, the NDC has told me that I should go and learn how to lie. I’ll never lie for any reason because I know that no matter how long after I lie, the truth will certainly come out one day as it can never be buried. Let me commend the 654 who voted for me, they’ve voted for the truth and have recognized the need to reward loyalty and I’m very much impressed with that margin because I didn’t give even GHC1.00 to anybody. The 654 delegates were so truthful to themselves that I’ve shown commitment to the party, they see sincerity, honesty in me and see an image that will be truthful when given the opportunity to serve them. I salute them, I’m so grateful and grateful to the entire constituency people, people have wept because of my loss but such is life.”
