NDC’s Nii Kommey cedes tie position to Kojo Quansah

Nii Kommey Adams, one of the two key contestants who tied during the Central Regional NDC delegates congress, has ceded the position to his main contender, Mr Kojo Quansah.

This, according to Nii Kommey, was meant to ensure that there was a substantive regional secretary to effectively coordinate the day-to-day activities of the party in the region.

“I have decided to step down from the contest and to relinquish the position to my co-contestant, Mr. Kojo Quansah”, Kommey stated this in the release.

The move which had been hailed by many party functionaries was contained in a release signed and issued by Mr Kommey Adams in Cape Coast.

He added, “I do so with no ill-will, but with the interest of the party at heart” adding that the decision also considered the collective interest of the party.

“I have also taken into consideration, the effect of the Region (Central Region) not having a substantive Regional Secretary at this crucial time and the repercussions it may have on the party in the future”. The release stated.

He further promised to work hard with all his heart to support the administration of Mr. Kojo Quansah and the entire Central Regional Executives to deliver victory for the party come 2020.

Background

It would be recalled Messrs Kojo Quansah and Nii Kommey Adams who vied for the Central Regional Secretary position of the NDC obtained 238 votes each.
In view of this, there was no clear winner, a situation that placed deputy scribe, Mathew Kwofie in an acting position.

Party’s official position

Since 1st September 2018 when the regional elections were held, there has not been any official communication from the party regarding the intended re-run of the secretary position.

The reign of Mr Mathew Kwofie in the acting scribe position has virtually ended following Nii Kommey’s decision that has paved the way for Mr Kojo Quansah to take over the secretaryship.
