The Flagbearer of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo has said he has intelligence that his political opponents will in the month of November launch a sustained character assassination against his person as Ghana counts down to the December 7 general elections.

The three-time Presidential candidate is not new to serious fabricated stories about him especially during the heat of campaigning every election year. In previous elections, Nana Akufo Addo was accused of committing sacrilege by urinating beside a mosque while on his campaign in the Northern Region, an accusation that later turned out to be palpably false.

In 2012, there were allegations from government that Nana Akufo-Addo, in 2008, had sexually harassed a female makeup artist at Ghana Television (GTV) but it turned out to be a lie as the supposed sex victim categorically denied the allegation.

Speaking at the NPP Greater Accra Regional campaign launch over the weekend, Nana Akufo Addo, urged his supporters to psyche themselves up for the imminent attacks on him and not be moved by the onslaught as he remains resolute in the party’s quest for power.

“As the campaign heats up, you’ll hear a lot of things about me from President Mahama and his party members. They see defeat staring at them in the face, but they wouldn’t want to exit power because of the looting they are undertaking. They’ll make all sorts of unprintable comments against me, but don’t be worried at all, because I’m not the least bothered.

I’m told there’s something they call November surprise, but don’t be afraid, I have not committed any crime in Ghana, what at all hasn’t been said about me? all the allegations about me always turn out to be false, don’t be afraid…I remain resolute in our quest for power.”

He added:Recently while seated in my car during my Western Regionional campaign tour, a gentle came to my car and took a careful look at me, and went back, he came again and lloked at me against and asked…are you the popular Nana Akufo Addo? and I said yes, then he shouted in disbelieve and said…I’m told you are a hunchback, an old man whose mouth drips with saliva, and I told him, look at me, I am the Nana Akufo Addo you here about. This is how I look like.”
