The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has partnered with the Black Stars and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to promote preventive healthcare and reduce non-communicable diseases.
Leveraging sports, the NHIA aims to cut down the average 180 million Ghana cedis spent monthly on treatment. The NHIA plans annual free basic medical check-ups for members for early detection and treatment of conditions.
The partnership with the Black Stars will educate fans on healthy lifestyles.
NHIA CEO Dr. Dacosta Aboagye and team captain Thomas Partey highlighted the initiative, including a free dialysis program, during a visit before the World Cup qualifiers.
