Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), announced that the NHIA will seek the Attorney General's opinion on the proposed Mandatory Health Insurance for visitors.
Launched in February, the policy has faced implementation criticism.
Speaking in Kumasi, Dr. Aboagye emphasized thorough stakeholder consultations, including Parliament and Cabinet, before proceeding.
He clarified that pricing remains unsettled and denied claims of a July 1 start date.
Dr. Aboagye assured ongoing engagement to refine the policy, noting that no model has been finalized and refuting speculated costs as media inaccuracies.
